Fall 2020 Charity LAN Cancellation

Posted August 24, 2020

Friends, gamers, and supporters of Laclede’s LAN:

As we discussed earlier in the year, the current health situation in the US has added a lot of complications to gatherings and events like LL. In March, we decided that the best thing to do to ensure the safety of our community members (both in LL and St. Louis generally) was to cancel the event. We have been in discussions with our staff, partners, and SLU Event Services as we made our decision.

Although there has been some improvement in the most recent statistics for St. Louis City, following the best CDC guidelines at our event would present numerous logistical challenges. We take our responsibility to attendees’ and their families’ safety seriously, and even if the CDC’s advice is followed at LL, we do not feel that bringing hundreds of people together in a room for over 30 hours is a responsible thing to do right now.

Though it hurts to do it, we are officially cancelling Laclede’s LAN Fall 2020. Our mission is to make Saint Louis a better place for everyone, and what our city needs from us right now is to stay home and stay safe.

Just like last time, full refunds will be made available to anyone who wants or needs them. If you choose not to get a refund, your ticket price will go to charity just as it normally would at any of our charity LANs. If you have any trouble obtaining your refund please let us know at [email protected].

It’s not over, though! We still want to play games with you. We’ve been holding a Community Game Night every second Friday of the month, and will be looking to game with the community on the weekend the LAN would have been (Oct. 17-18). Come hang out on our Discord and play with us!

Also, we will be back before you know it, with an event that will be worth the wait. We know taking this much time off from LL events has been tough – but those of you who have stuck around deserve a great one. We’re working hard on it!

If you have any questions, comments, or thoughts, please reach out to us on Discord, Facebook, Reddit, or [email protected].

We miss you all, and hope to see you soon. (Did we mention our Discord?)

Thanks,

LL Staff
