Hello Laclede’s LAN community – we have an update concerning the Fall event this year that we wanted to share.
Event space is one of the biggest hurdles we face when putting our events together, and last week we found out that there’s been a change to venue pricing for the next event. Unfortunately, the pricing change is substantial enough that logistically it will not work. As we are a 501(c)(3) charity, we take costs very seriously. Our goal is to be able to raise funds for STEM education and to do that costs have to make sense.
Unfortunately, with the short timeline between now and the event, there just isn’t enough time to look for an alternate event space. At this point in time the staff won’t have enough lead time to fully investigate the space in the way we would need to for things like power and Internet reliability.
Given these circumstances, we are canceling the Fall Laclede’s LAN Event. This doesn’t mean we won’t have events next year – we’ll be working to remedy the situation and will continue to work with our great partners. We will update you all as soon as we have more information.
We deeply appreciate your enthusiasm for what we do, and will work hard to get the next event’s logistics worked out so that we can get you back in a LAN seat as soon as possible. Thank you all for reading, and as always, please feel free to ask questions and share your feedback on the LL Discord.
