Spring 2023 Charity LAN May 13 - 14, 2023

Laclede’s LAN returned once again to the Boeing Hall in the Saint Louis Science Center for another successful event! The Science Center is a We polished off a lot of Monster Energy and made a few trips to the Science Café, all while playing PC games to support our charities. Thanks to all of you who were able to make it out to a later-in-the-year-than-normal LAN (and thanks to all of the mothers for their understanding about the Mother’s Day LAN ).

As always, we want to thank LANFest for their continued support, and for their help in getting our door prizes for this event. We also want to thank our community streamers, Aquacheese and HesRetnu for streaming the event live on Twitch, which helps us get the word out!

This event featured competitive tournaments in Counter-Strike: GO, Overwatch 2, and Valorant. These games were the top winners of our Discord polls – make sure to watch our Discord so that you can vote for your favorite game next time! This event was the first test of our new check-in software, so thank you all for a successful maiden voyage for that newly-written app! We also saw the return of the Ultimate Gaming Experience tent hosted by Ryan Nuspl, which is like a walk through over forty years of gaming history in just a few square feet. Ryan runs a summer camp called The Retro Guys tent that teaches kids the history of video games, milestones in technology, and how to use Raspberry Pi’s to build and design their own custom arcade cabinets. They accept donations (hardware and otherwise), so if you are able to help with their mission, please email them at [email protected].

Thank you all again for coming, for gaming with us, for being a part of our community, for drinking all the Monster so we don’t have to carry it out, and for helping us set up and tear down! We’re looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
